The first THS Staff Spotlight Member of the 2021-22 year is Kelsey Petty, our new Sped Resource Instructor. Kelsey’s story is a classic “hometown girl makes good” story. She is a 2007 Alumni of THS and began her District 9 career in 2014 as the Administrative Assistant for the Special Education Department. In June, 2019 she completed her three Associate degrees and her Bachelor’s degree in Behaviors and Social Studies in April 2021. She is currently working on her Masters degree in addition to working full time, being a wife and mother to two busy boys.
Kelsey grew up in Tillamook in a very athletic family. During her four years at THS, Kelsey was a three-sport athlete, playing volleyball, basketball and softball, in fact, she had a scholarship offer to play college softball, but declined to take that route, commenting sarcastically, “How smart was that.” She was a well-rounded and busy student, active in Key Club, Honor Society, Charity Drive Princess, Overall Charity Drive Chair and Class Officer.
After high school she attended George Fox University.
Kelsey has many hobbies and interests including, sports, traveling and reading. She enjoys visiting nearby college campuses when she travels; this past summer she visited Louisiana State University (go Tigers!) and the University of Georgia (go Bulldogs!)
Kelsey loves living in Tillamook. She considers it an outdoor person’s dream. According to Kelsey, “There are a lot of activities in the Tillamook area, yet you are only a short drive to larger cities. It’s nice to be removed from a lot of people.” She enjoys life with her husband of thirteen years, Matthew and her two boys, Clayton, age 12 and Cody, age 9.
We are happy to have you at THS, Kelsey. Welcome Home.
